Description

The Xwejni salt pans form a checkerboard pattern along Gozo's shoreline, near Marsalforn. In this picture, you can see several dozen salt pans, some of which have accumulated salt for harvesting. A local Maltese family maintains the salt pans, capturing the minerals for artisan salt sold worldwide.

I took this picture while on a hike around the Marsalforn area in June 2020.
