Description
This picture displays Saint Paul's Island, just off the coast of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. Saint Paul's Island is thought to be the place where Paul the Apostle shipwrecked in 60AD, along with 175 others. He and his associates swam to Malta's nearby shore, where the Maltese people cared for them. In turn, Paul introduced them to Christianity. The sculpture that sits upon St. Paul's Island was created during the 1800s by Sigismondo and Salvatore Dimech. It is a well-known site throughout Malta, and many people travel to see it from all over the world.
The sea surrounding the island is a deep blue, contrasting with the lighter, turquoise waters closer to the shore. The coastline of the island features steep cliffs, with waves gently crashing against the rocks, creating a dynamic interplay between the land and sea.
The sky above is a clear, vibrant blue with no clouds in sight, suggesting a bright, sunny day. The sunlight casts a warm glow on the island, highlighting the textures of the rock and the sparse vegetation.
I took this picture while hiking through Saint Paul's Bay. From the cliffs of Mellieha, the island is clearly visible.
